Discover Penang

I remember the first time when i found out that i need to move to Penang for my work, i was thrilled. I have been to other states in Peninsular Malaysia except The northern side..being Penang is one of them.. I was really excited and I wanted to discover Penang. So that's exactly what i did..

Penang, or Pulau Pinang, is located at the northwest coast of peninsular Malaysia. It is divided into two which is the Penang Island and the Mainland. Both are separated by the Straits of Malacca and the only means of travel back and forth is only the Penang Bridge, which has a toll costs of RM7 by cash and Rm 5.60 by touch 'n' go card (applies if you buy your card at the bridge).

The capital of Penang is Georgetown. Georgetown is a very strategic place where you have shopping malls, food stalls, hotels and a lot more landmarks that will interest every tourist being here.

They even have the best cendol ( a dessert which is made of flour and is usually green in color.Often mix with coconut milk and ice with a little brown sugar) in town..and even Phua chu kang and a.k.a. wife liked it.. no other places serves you better than this stall in Georgetown.

BATU FERRINGGI

Now, I'll start Discover Penang from one of the most famous landmarks which is Batu Ferringgi. It is about 20 minutes drive from Georgetown. On the way up, there are a lot of other landmarks that you can drop by like Tanjung Bungah and Shamrock Beach. Batu Feringgi side walks will open around 7 pm, so this gives you more time to drive pass Batu Feringgi to the End Of the World and see some fisherman's village and go hike to reach to the Monkey Beach. You can start your journey as early as 7.30pm. At the end of the beach, there's a light house where you can view Penang from a majestic view..and it's FREE!

When it's 7pm, you should be heading back to Batu Ferringgi where they are open. There will be one whole stretch of people selling stuff to tourist. Ranges from bags to Cds to Decos..you name it, it's there. But to all my dear friends especially tourists, when you're there, make sure you asked for a bargain. Example: Sometimes something that they priced RM 30, you must try to bargain or try walking away, they will definitely give you a very good discount. I remember buying a scarf for only RM12 where the price they gave me was RM30. So remember this ok. BARGAIN or walk away! Then you will get a better price..

In Batu Ferringgi, there are a lot of places to eat. There are Seafoods, Western, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Indian, Malay foods..name it..it's all here.. There are also cyber cafe, fish spa, massage centers and mini markets. And the scenery is just so spectacular especially during sunset.

You can't imagine what a blast i had here..So, you better head down here cause ...It's worth to come to Batu Ferringgi and experience it yourself! I'll be telling you more on Penang's other famous tourist spots soon..so watch out!
